- Prepare for work
- Work health and safety (WHS) requirements, including personal protection needs, are observed throughout the work
- Tools, machines and materials are selected and checked prior to use to ensure that they are appropriate for the work, serviceable and in a safe condition
- Furniture design, tolerances, process, materials and quantities are determined from work instructions
- Work sequence is planned
- Procedures are determined for checking quality at each stage of the process
- Suitable work area is selected for the task
- Preparatory drawings/set-outs for tasks are completed, where required
- Complete bending and forming process
- Tools, machines and equipment are used in accordance with safety requirements and manufacturer specifications
- Materials are visually inspected for flaws and faults
- Cane is sanded to remove exterior blemishes, flaws or faults
- Cane is prepared by straightening, where required, and marked for bending
- Cane is heated in steam ovens or kilns in accordance with design/pattern bending requirements
- Cane is bent in accordance with design/pattern requirements
- Product is checked against plans at identified checkpoints to ensure compliance with specifications
- Non-conformity with the required quality standards is rectified
- Finalise operation and maintain equipment
- Work area is cleaned, hand and/or power tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained and stored in accordance with workplace procedures
- Machinery is cleaned and left in a safe mode
- Faulty and/or defective equipment is tagged and reported in accordance with workplace practices
- Unused hardware is collected and stored for re-use or disposal following workplace procedures
- Waste and scrap materials are dealt with following workplace procedures
